LETTER – CVEX addressing public concerns

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

It has come to our attention that there are some concerns with allowing the Comox Valley Exhibition to proceed with our 146th exhibition.

These are legitimate concerns and need to be addressed. COVID-19 has changed the way we proceed with our everyday life and Comox Valley Exhibition is no exception. As many fairs and exhibitions throughout Canada are struggling and possibly folding, Comox Valley Exhibition has proactively decided to set the pace and learn how to work within the COVID-19 safety protocols.

The safety of our guests is always one of our highest priorities and this has not changed. This year we are a primarily outdoor event, we cannot mandate the wearing of masks, but do recommend them. We are allowing only 50 guests into the event at one time and are asking them to preregister online to guarantee entry as well as reducing lineups and wait times.

Guests should not attend if they have any symptoms of COVID-19 or could have encountered anyone with symptoms. We will be doing regularly scheduled disinfecting of potties, washstands and chairs, as well as touchpoint sanitizing after every use of the above.

There will only be 50 tickets per show and sanitizing will occur between each show. We are in close contact with VIHA regarding our plans and cleaning protocols, and encourage our guests to respect all of BC CDC’s COVID-19 rules and regulations. With these measures in place, we feel we should be able to have a safe and fun event.
