Residents of the Western communities, particularly in Shirley and Sooke, have, in recent years, experienced an often frightening, but always upsetting, byproduct of a company in Washington State, a shock boom, which can shake the foundations of buildings and houses.
After a summer break, Pacific Aerospace & Electronics Bonded Metals resumed explosive bonding of metals at their plant in Sequim, Wash.
While PA&E has made past efforts to both experience and minimize the impact of their work, the shock waves continue nonetheless.
And they now take place over two days, not one. For two years, I’ve been in weekly contact, reporting on how this affects my family and our home in Shirley. I encourage everyone who feels the shock waves to email cdetty@pacaero.com as I believe more voices will encourage more serious efforts to minimize the effects felt here.
Is it right that a foreign company be allowed to continue to threaten both the structural and psychological well-being of Canadians living directly opposite across the strait on a weekly basis?
