To the editor:
How often does Coun. Gail Given drive on Highway 97 without any passengers? Has she ever experienced the frustration of trying to move into the HOV lane in order to turn right? If yes, how often?
Alistair Waters’ article on page A1 “Get Out: A Kelowna councillor lashed out at lone drivers who use the HOV lane” doesn’t mention Given’s own driving experiences on Highway 97. Perhaps he can ask her (and all other council members) the same questions for a follow-up article.

If you haven’t read it, Page A7 of today’s Capital News (Jan. 30) published some of the Facebook comments regarding the HOV lane, with the headline:
“Readers weigh in on Kelowna councillor’s reaction to HOV lane”
I encourage the entire council to go to https://www.facebook.com/newskelowna/ and read ALL the Facebook comments on the issue.
My two favourite comments are at the top:
Brittany Mccune
You HAVE to drive in the HOV lane if you ever want to turn right… God forbid someone ever letting you into a lane in Kelowna.
Kirsten Hansen Merrifield
They should have put the HOV lane on the left side like all the other HOV lanes. Dumbest planner ever!
