Dear editor,
Peggy Stirrett (June 19 letter: Island Health’s response to complaints raises accountability concerns) was correct regarding Island Health’s response to complaints about our new (by now, not-so-new) hospital. Their comments were evasive and self-serving. Safe to conclude for the number of problems reported, many go unreported.
Trivializing medical care as being subject to “growing pains”is simplistic and irresponsible.
Don’t blame the building. It’s only a building. Blame the staff, administrators, and bureaucrats. For how many more months and years will they hide behind the “growing pains” headline?
