Letter: Huge thank you to staff at Canada Post in Duncan

Huge thank you to staff at Canada Post in Duncan

On Sept. 14, a friend and I were walking our dogs on the trail in the municipal forest off Wicks Road and Calais Road. We were returning to our cars when we met a young fellow who asked if either of us had lost our car keys. I felt my pockets and mine were gone. BUT he said that he had phoned the number on the War Amps tag, and was told to put them in the red mail box, which happens to be right at the entrance to the trail. Oh dear!

My friend drove me home to get my spare set of keys, and my husband took me back to my car, not a long distance away. I drove straight downtown to the Canada Post office where the two people on duty did their best to help me retrieve those keys. They got hold of the driver picking up that day from the mail box, who fortunately had not gotten to that box yet. He was given my phone number and would phone me when he got to the box. About a half hour after I’d gotten back home, my phone rang. I hopped back in my car and met the postal driver at that mail box, where he retrieved my keys!

I want to offer a huge thank you to those staff members at Canada Post who acted like neighbours helping each other; what a wonderful small community Duncan is.
