Dear Editor:
One of the District of Summerland’s justifications for transitioning to automated garbage carts was the elimination of plastic bags (blue bags in particular) from the recycle stream.
Being a model citizen, I diligently read the guide accompanying my shiny new carts.
The instructions direct the householder to put shredded paper into plastic bags before adding to the blue cart.
Perhaps a better alternative would be to use a cardboard box or a paper bag for the shreddings.
