I was saddened by the article in the paper regarding the details of who and what (city) departments were involved in the chicken manure dumping decision.
One would have hoped that only one or two misguided souls were responsible, but there were too many without regard or respect for the dignity of vulnerable people.
How does a city with so many churches, temples and other faith communities so miss the point of true community and loving one’s neighbour as oneself? Why is it so quiet?
I would like to ask the readers to seriously ponder this: What, and how many, bad things would have to happen in my own life for me to end up homeless?
Think about that! And if that did happen to me, how would I escape the pain? If pondering that for a few moments, encourages any compassion in you, then you can make a difference.
Talk with those who are have the same compassion and are actively engaged with the poor and homeless.
A good place to start? The 5 and 2 Ministry…. look them up on Facebook.
