My fear of being able to find a doctor as a new resident of Qualicum Beach intensified when I visited a recommended clinic for a cortisone injection.
The young receptionist asked if I had the serum with me, the doctor examined me and gave me the prescription. I turned up at the appointed time next day (12:45 p.m.) only to see a ‘I will return at 1 o’clock’ sign on the desk.
After speaking to the other receptionist who knew nothing I went next door to shop to kill time, planning to return at 1 p.m. At 12.59 p.m. my phone rang and this obviously irritated receptionist told me my appointment was cancelled due to my not being there on time.
I then had to drive 30 km to a walk-in clinic in Nanaimo to have the serum I’d purchased administered.
