Doreen Olson continues to stir the Kool-Aid for all to sip regarding the proposed National Park Reserve.
At this point, it appears she could be the only one in favour of the proposal. The other misguided souls have obviously not taken the serious time to see what is really going to happen.
The proposal is social engineering at it’s finest. For you see us evil hunters, ATV riders, ranchers, chopper pilots and woodcutters will be banned from our own backyards forever by these urban bigots. I can’t personally blame individuals much longer but the three governments certainly take the brunt of my disdain. Even though Parks Canada is doing yet another survey for locals to take, the truth is if they cared one little bit for locals they would have left 13 years ago when we told them the first time we didn’t want it.
First Parks Canada came to tell us they were going to save the environment. They treat First Nations so poorly we protested together with them to send them packing. Then a few years later they came back and said we were all going get rich if we had a national park and promised the First Nations a portion of that. That ploy didn’t do real good so now they are back and have promised that this park will be the silver lining in the cloud to reconciliation with First Nations.
This proves that Parks Canada will absolutely do and say anything to see the park come to fruition. So while we stay home, our First Nation friends will hunt, cut wood and quad in the national park. Like I said, this will not help to reconcile our differences and will only add to local frustrations. As stated earlier, I am not going to blame individuals only their governments. It is imperative for all to realize we have traditions on the mountain going back for many generations. The traditions are sustainable, sacred and keep us grounded to the land. Why we are not entitled to them is very confusing.
