Editor:
I believe that our country, through NATO, is involved in the covert attempted subjugation of the sovereign country of Syria and I am very distressed.
It seems that those involved are neither interested in freedom and democracy, nor in most cases are they even Syrian.
As a citizen of Canada, I would like to register my discontent with this arrangement, and my conviction that NATO is no longer performing the function(s) for which it was originally intended.
I suggest most strongly that our country should withdraw from membership in this now-subverted organization. I am convinced that we, as a member of NATO, are doing no good in any of the countries in which it has inflicted itself.
I have the distinction of fitting the designation of Cold War Vet (Canadian Army Reserve in the ‘50s) and it is now my feeling that our NATO-bound involvements in Europe and Africa, not to mention our continuing hostile occupation of Afghanistan, shame me as a Canadian, and even more so as one with experience in our country’s military.
This is neither peacekeeping nor is it defence.
I want to support the troops, home!
