Maybe it is just me but as someone who prefers taking public transit than driving, Nelson Transit has disappointed me (and my kids) for years, and it doesn’t seem to get any better.
I place the responsibility squarely on the individual(s) doing the scheduling. They seem unable to recognize the needs of riders.
For those working downtown, the ability to arrive downtown at least 10 minutes before the hour or half hour would be ideal.
Nobody taking the #2 has this ability, and for this reason those living in Fairview and working downtown probably end up driving. Then there is the bus to Selkirk College. Again, many Nelson students end up driving because the scheduling is so poor.
Ideally there should be hourly buses along this route but as a minimum there should be a bus to get students to the Castlegar campus for the start of 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., but there is not.
What is the problem Nelson Transit? Why do these basic scheduling issues elude you? I have left comments via your comment page but have never received a response.
Perhaps if more people do the same there would be more of an incentive for Nelson Transit to actually improve things.
