Reader worried over future on Penticton airport

I know there are so many very important subjects to be pondered and acted over, ( homelessness, drug problems the environment, etc.) so in a way I feel a little embarrassed to touch on the subject but — if Penticton has just refurbished the local airport at much cost — it seems to be, we are being held to ransom?

We know the “future is progress,” banks down-sizing, local transport being cut, everywhere cutbacks but, we are really cut off unless we have our own transport to get to Kelowna.

If, and I mean if, we are slowly being taught that we are not important enough for our own airport, then for heaven’s sake we should not let the airlines just push us around at will.

I would rather be informed and see the BC transit just take over our ride to Kelowna, we could at least plan our flight around the bus schedule. My flight was cancelled at short notice, I then had to get a taxi to Kelowna at 3 a.m. in the morning for $200 or forfeit the price of my hotel in Toronto, $195.

If we know we will lose our airport through some whim the airport has seen larger aircraft (without mishap), funny how now it has to be shortened, and airlines all of a sudden having to return to Calgary? Curiouser and curiouser.
