To the editor:
Why are the empty buildings on the streets not being considered for the city hall? They have been vacant for quite some time now. There are buildings vacant at Elliot and Main Street. There are also vacant buildings on Old Okanagan Highway. Why would we want to waste more money that Westbank cannot afford to spend. Even if it is on native land, what difference does it make? Everyone can use it.
The government is determined to build a new building even if it is turned down by a referendum vote. So I ask why spend this vast amount of money to find out the constituents’ opinion if you disregard the results? So they should have gone ahead and built this building without the vote. The money that was wasted on the voting process could have begun to cover the cost overruns that we all know will come when the budget for the new building is drawn up.
