What a lovely surprise yesterday, as we went for a walk in Oak Bay, a newly built house with a pitched roof. Such a lovely change from the boring boxes which we have come to accept in our municipality.
Why are all these boxy homes being built with no regard for the character of Oak Bay. Think back to the sixties when what we thought was modern at the time, turned out to be an eyesore just a few years later. I hope our planning department is giving this some thought and making sure that if we have to have ‘boxes’ that there is a healthy mix of character homes too.
