On behalf of the Ravensong Action Group I wish to thank you for your factual and well-researched editorial of Tuesday, June 26.

This Regional District of Nanaimo is so far behind with planning and providing recreation facilities for District 69. Catch up is going to be difficult. The over capacity and complete lack of facilities have been ignored and passed over for 12 years after the 2006 consultant’s report.

On May 17, four groups of organized and regular pool users attended the recreation commission meeting, including our group, the Ravensong Action Group. We presented as delegations with our ideas for an immediate fix for the current pool and a long-term plans for the future pool.

Our presentations were well received by the recreation commission and as a result we feel that there is momentum going to finally move ahead to correct over capacity and with a plan to move forward with an immediate temporary fix for Ravensong pool.

This will tide the residents and users over until the property is purchased and plans are activated to build an centralized indoor and outdoor recreation facility.
