Save Centennial Park from Duncan Manor development
I am for affordable housing. We have the only small community park for miles around. I don’t know if we can save the salmon or the environment but I hope we can save our small community park from being paved over.
Centennial Park in Duncan is the premiere playground and water park for miles around. Children play, climb, run and get wet. Seniors and families talk, socialize and watch the little ones play. “Hoops’, tennis, pickleball, picnics, exercise, strolls, the beauty and wonder that is the edge of the urban forest.
There are other sites within the built environment in Duncan that do not impede on the significant social, environmental, recreational and community eco-system that currently exists in this corner. Will we stand by and watch this development continue? Or, might we harness some resources for protecting our park ecosystems and build affordable social housing? Both are possible. Let us not get stymied by a bureaucratic and developmental process that may have begun. We are nimble and we care; let’s make this shift together.
