I have a question for the Abbotsford School District trustees and Superintendent Kevin Godden: Do you support public education?
If you truly support public education then how can you sit by silently and let the provincial government run the system into the ground? Your silence during this labour dispute is deafening. You should be leading the charge in demanding this government treat the students and the teachers with respect and properly fund public education.
If you truly support public education then tell the government to increase funding levels so you have a budget with which to work. British Columbia has the second-lowest student funding in the country. That is unacceptable.
If you truly support a properly funded public education system then it’s time for you to speak up. You need to represent all aspects of the education system and work to improve the situation for both students and teachers.
If you truly support public education then do the right thing and tell this government that enough is enough.
