Dear Editor,
As a senior property taxpayers, I’m paying more than $4,000 a year – and it keeps going up.
Just what do we get for our taxes?
Never see a snow plow, thank fully the neighbour clears the road with his plow, another neighbour salts the road when it is icy.
When and if we get the occasional municipal snow plow all he does is leave a furrow of snow across driveway entrance that now needs shovelling. Something seniors with heart problems shouldn’t be doing.
Now I have decided to switch my green waste can for a smaller one, making it easier for us to handle. Can’t use compostable/biodegradable bags to keep the can clean, can’t wash it in the winter, we have the outside water turned off so our taps don’t freeze.
This morning, I found out that I have to pay a $50 administration fee, to switch my can to a smaller one.
Does my tax dollars not go to wages at the Township?
So why am I being charged $50 to get a smaller can to make easier for us.
It is redundant I already pay taxes.
