Editor: Are we mad at TransLink? You betcha.
We live just off of 208 Street, and they have decided to put the large noisy buses on this street, running every 15 minutes between the two sides. These large buses sound like semi trucks.
First, these buses are extremely loud, and second, they only have a handful of people on them.
This is absolutely ridiculous. This is a two-lane residential street.
We would like to know what in the world they were thinking.
Buses start running at 4:45 a.m. We are woken up constantly, and cannot sleep, even with the windows closed.
This street is not a truck route, and yet they are allowed to run these semi-like buses on it, which are practically empty. We have contacted TransLink about this, asking them to please switch the buses to the smaller ones, which are much quieter and respectful to the people that live along this street, and they say that they need time to figure this out.
Well, we can tell them that these large buses have low ridership on them and need to be replaced with the smaller quieter buses.
They run the smaller buses on 64 Avenue, and throughout Willoughby.
Why on Earth are they putting the large noisy buses on 208 Street?
They say that they value our opinions. It is a simple solution.Putting smaller buses on this street would be much more cost effective, and would be much quieter. What is it going to take to get TransLink to listen?
