LETTER: Start building a permanent solution

What I would suggest to Breckenridge is that he take the bricks and start building a permanent solution for the homeless problem...

Reading the letter from our “classic diatribist,” “Task force”in the April 4 edition of your paper by James Breckenridge, I am amazed at his knowledge of everything that is wrong with politicians he does not agree with.

He seems to be throwing bricks in glass houses. What I would suggest to Breckenridge is that he take the bricks and start building a permanent solution for the homeless problem.

I do agree that homelessness is a very sad problem.

Could a  course of action possibly be:

1) Define the problem and the reason(s) it exists? How many are self-caused? How many are due to mental problems? These individuals should be a high priority? How many are not willing to help themselves?

2) Present three scenarios to correct the problem; one with views from the left, one from the centre and one from the right.

3) With each scenario list steps which are recommended and the possible results.

4) Select the scenario he would recommend and explain the reason for recommendation. List the approximate funding required for the recommended action.

As  Breckenridge seems to have given our current homeless situation a great deal of thought, it should not be an impossible task to come up with a great solution.

And oh yes, determine a source of funding.
