Re: the letter from Barrie Szekely, ‘Garden suites must come with restrictions.’
Mr. Szekely’s last sentence, “Did secondary suites or will garden cottages really provide affordable housing, or just line the pockets of greedy landlords with tax-free income,” has me somewhat confused.
I wasn’t aware my rental income is tax free and will be sure to look into that. Oh wait. Surely, Mr. Szekely isn’t suggesting that I don’t declare the income from my rental unit and thus am guilty of filing a fraudulent tax return.
