The Editor,
Re: “Blind MP-elect Qualtrough ‘well prepared’ for job in Ottawa,” the Now, Oct. 19.
I’m a person with a visual impairment too. So glad to see that you presented the accomplished Delta MP-elect Carla Qualtrough in such a “normal,” positive light and didn’t get into the wretchedly, predictable stereotypical portrayal of blindness so often delivered by mainstream media.
Representing one’s constituents in Parliament is about ability, not disability.
Congratulations on not taking the “amazing blind woman gets elected” angle.
