Letter: Thank you Relvis, thank you very much

I keep the picture of Relvis with mama on my fridge to always remember this treasuredtime

Upon reading the Penticton Western News article, Relvis hanging up the blue suede shoes after 14 years (Aug. 24 issue), I felt moved to share, with deep gratitude, my personal memory of Penticton’s famous Relvis.

Three years ago, Relvis hosted a special concert for a group on an outing from Haven Hill, and in particular, for our mother, who was a huge Elvis fan. She was 89 years old and battling cancer.

This outing was a surprise for her organized by Haven Hill staff. Ralph sang so wonderfully to mama, holding her hand and giving her his silk scarf. Our family will be forever grateful as we saw her eyes light up, saw her smiling and laughing again.

She passed away shortly afterwards, and I keep the picture of Relvis with mama on my fridge to always remember this treasured time.

Thank you Ralph Ramsay, and I am sure you have given special memories to more people than you know.
