LETTER: The environmental argument for bringing jets home

LETTER: The environmental argument for bringing jets home

Most of the military’s fuel consumption outside of domestic use is excluded from greenhouse gas statistics.

The United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change reported that most of the military’s fuel consumption outside of domestic use is excluded from greenhouse gas statistics. Oil Change International has reported that the US military, in five years of war in Iraq, has emitted 100 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. While Canadian military adventures in no way approach this number, it’s another good reason for bringing our jets home. Thank you, prime minister.
