Letter: Thoughts on speed cameras

If you don't speed you have nothing to worry about

In response to the editorial (Troubling aspect of speed cameras), I have to say that there is nothing wrong with installing cameras of any kind (intersection, radar vans, school zones).

If you don’t speed you have nothing to worry about. If you do speed, no matter the “velocity threshold” then you deserve to be ticketed. This is not a cash cow, it is a deterrent to those who feel they have the right to endanger everyone else on the road.

We wouldn’t need cameras if everyone was respectful of the posted speed limits and all other rules of the road. For those who choose to speed excessively, a ticket is deserved and should be large enough to make the speeder think twice before endangering others again.
