I injured my foot and it resulted in a major infection which required intravenous antibiotics every 24 hours in the ER. Every doctor, nurse and support staff person was not less than perfect. We have a wonderful, clean, and well-run hospital.
I observed on Baker Street the outdoor patios full of people enjoying themselves with food and alcohol as if we were all invincible. As it turns out, we are not invincible and the results of our gorgeous B.C. Day long weekend may result in a surge upward of COVID.
Nelson is very vulnerable to wildfire because there are so many buildings that are not Firesmart. There has been little noticeable removal of evergreen shrubs, hedges, and trees next to buildings. It would be terrifying to see our bubble burst by an interface wildfire. (Interface means forest, evergreens, and buildings together.) The interface exists throughout the city. The problem is obvious and the solution is simple: remove the fuel.
