Letter: Time to change who is in power

Why do we let them get away with pretty much anything they want?

So as I understand it, we vote politicians in, we pay them some respectable amount of money for their duties, give them a unbelievable pensions for their service and let them bill as much as they can get away with, as long as it doesn’t make too big of a stink (or that the media doesn’t catch whiff of it) and we, the people of Canada, pay the tab.

What I don’t get, is that if they work for us Canadian citizens, why do we let them get away with pretty much anything they want?

The parties, as I see it, are just a bunch of overgrown kids. They yell and scream at each other like spoiled little children, they won’t stop and talk to the media and they give no answers or try to skip the questions. They lie like children and take no responsibility for their actions. I can’t understand why anybody would want these people to represent them. It’s not just the parties either, it’s the way they govern us. I can’t speak for anyone else, but until these politicians start looking after Canadians first, I have got no use for them.

A government that isn’t for their people first should be thrown out of power (like right now). It’s run like a business, your bosses (us Canadians) must be happy or your party is fired. They get raises and benefits according to how well they do their jobs and based on their loyalty and commitment to the country and it’s people.

All I see and hear is how much everybody hates the government, or they hate the other parties. My thoughts are this is a great time to change our government and our way of governing.
