I’m so very tired of the constant hatred and calls for pitchforks and torches to our city council over the boil water advisory. YES it is a nuisance, and I worry about elders, those with compromised immune systems (like myself), and my friends’ wee ones to have the clean water they need, but it WILL clear itself and we are LUCKY we live somewhere with the amount of precipitation for it to clear itself.
The council has been talking about the sheer debt our city has amassed AS WELL AS the need for a water treatment facility since Lee Brain has taken office the FIRST time. It is federal funds we need, so sharpen your pitch forks and light your torches and go after your MLA, your Premier, and the Prime Minister! (Or you know, you could actually get out and VOTE during elections but that’s another rant)

You’re so angry over a couple of weeks of this? How do you think parts of Hope, B.C. feel who have been on a boil water advisory since 2000? Or Port Alberni – again since 2000? Or better yet, the 20+ First Nations communities in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario who have also gone years with an advisory in effect?
Please, remove me from all friend lists on all social media platforms and delete my phone number if you choose to continue on your path of misdirected hatred. I have better things to do. Like boiling some more water.
(It literally took me 10 minutes of searching on the B.C Health Authorities and the Government of Canada’s websites to research this.)
