The climate crisis is the number one threat to human health in the 21st century according to the World Health Organization, Canadian Medical Association and Canadian Public Health Association.
The positive feedback loops are breaching thresholds every day — we are having unprecedented wind storms (power outages) and early snowmelt here predicting another record wildfire season. Just like cancer, the longer we wait, the more radical the treatment required and the poorer the prognosis for survival. There is no time for partisan politics as usual, with contradictory platforms based on swing voters in swing ridings, but rather a collaborative cross-party war effort. This issue dwarfs all others. Real leadership and collaboration is mandatory. Electoral reform is also necessary to make such collaboration viable.
