LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Canada needs a Trump

Letter writer objects to columnist's statement about a world leader who is corrupt and racist

To the editor,

Re: We might as well leave Canadian currency alone, Opinion, Jan. 28.

I object very strongly to the columnist’s statement that he “can think of at least one world leader today who is as corrupt as he is racist.”

It is naturally assumed he is referring to President Trump – a man who has done more for the U.S. in his short term of office than any other president ever. Why, rather than looking at all the good he has done, do people not take this into consideration, but insist on thinking the worst of him, calling him corrupt, a racist, etc.?

I happen to greatly admire Trump for all he has done, and I don’t feel he is at all corrupt or a racist. He says what he’s going to do and does it. If you check Facebook, you will notice there are many Canadians who admire Trump and are praying for him.

On the other hand, if the reference was to Justin Trudeau, then the columnist has hit the nail on the head. We desperately need a Trump in Canada instead of the weak, wimpy, spendthrift excuse for a prime minister currently in power and vacationing at our expense. The apple didn’t fall too far from the tree.
