To the editor,
Re: Nanaimo RCMP vehicle spray-painted while officer investigates spray-painting incident, Oct. 26.
I just finished reading the article regarding the RCMP attending a mischief call at the local doughnut shop.
What speaks volumes here is the fact the RCMP released the accused to appear in court at a later date for two counts of mischief. No further charges for possession and being under the influence of drugs. An addiction to methamphetamine may have been the root cause of the mischief in the first place.
Our present catch-and-release system is not viable if we are ever to turn around the crime and social disorder gripping our beloved Nanaimo. Please write or call your local MLA to pass a motion for the B.C. judicial system to do its job and keep us all safe and protected. A definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.
