Letter to the editor: Click bait journalism

The day after terrorists and nazis stormed the US capitol, I received a free copy of the Epoch Times in my mailbox - we all did. Seeing that glaring example of hyper-partisan, private interest, click-bait journalism masquerading as news delivered by Canada Post was starkly ironic given the smug declarations by Canadians on social media: "how crazy is the US?!". The fact is, day in day out we receive the exact same programming as Americans – in our mailboxes and on our social media feeds.

The Epoch Times is recognized as a pro-Trump media empire that peddles right-wing disinformation and conspiracy theories. While their ultimate mission is anti-Chinese Communist Party, they have discovered that peddling in hate gets clicks, even hiring GOP strategist to help them with their pro-Trump pivot.

Please. Throw it out. Toss it in your fireplace. Email or message Canada Post to request they do even the slightest bit of research before they help bring alt-right hatred to each of our doors.
