To the editor,
Re: Council decides city will be guided by ‘doughnut’ economic framework, Dec. 23.
Congratulations to city council. One woman invents a new economic theory and you jump on the bandwagon.
Do you know what makes doughnut economics not work? Just about anything: war, a virus, social unrest, 10 countries that conform to the theory and 184 countries that don’t.
Hasn’t this year taught you anything? Plans to ban plastic bags and promote mass transit destroyed by the coronavirus.
We have serious problems in Nanaimo today that need to be addressed.
May I remind you that you are a city council, not the United Nations.
