LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Go back to straws made of paper

Paper straws would be a better choice than plastic, says letter writer

To the editor,

Re: Pair of pubs scrap drinking straws, Dec. 14.

There have been a lot of items in the news lately about plastic in our oceans, and often specifically about plastic drinking straws.

Once upon a time, long, long ago, when I was a child, we had straws that were made of paper. Why don’t we go back to those?

The best option would be to recycle straws of any type, but at least paper straws would be a better choice than plastic if they get chucked in the ocean.
