To the editor,
I visited Cathedral Grove/MacMillan Provincial Park recently with visitors from out-of-province. The situation involving parking along the fringes of busy Highway 4, pedestrians crossing the highway and cars pulling in and out of parking spots and travelling through was a nightmare, as usual.
This situation has been like this for decades and the government agencies responsible seem to be doing nothing to resolve it.
Please don’t drag your heels until someone gets killed. At least install some sort of pedestrian crossing control ASAP.
As an example of a ‘quick and dirty’ solution – the Nanaimo airport employs a crossing guard /traffic control person to protect passengers during peak hours along the front of the terminal building.
