To the editor,
Re: Director to ask for new name for the region, March 6.
I am alarmed by the eagerness the board members in the Regional District of Nanaimo seek to waste our tax money. A name change is not necessary and has already been deemed too expensive. Who are they trying to placate? Is this just a feel good move? And the name they have suggested, “Regional District along the Salish Sea” is quite a mouthful and will not catch on. Do the citizens of Qualicum really feel neglected by using the word, Nanaimo? I doubt that those citizens want to spend money on all the cost to change names on signs, letterheads, etc.
I have a feeling these elected representatives should get down to work and stop this foolish move. I sincerely hope the other members of the board vote this idea down.
