To the editor,
Re: New fire hall No. 1 plans unveiled, June 18.
Where I live, the fire hall that serves the community doesn’t have all of the pricey visual trappings that this proposed $17-million for this new fire hall will have. Because it’s not only a fire hall, it’s only adding to the construction cost of this project.
The city has an all-too-obvious love affair with all things extravagant for unknown reasons. Doesn’t speak out in protest, remains on silent running, or is just resigned to ‘it is what it is.’ This proposed new fire hall No. 1 would look a lot more at home in Las Vegas because they can afford it.

The city really needs a reality check to wake up to the realization that taxpayers do not have deep pockets to pay for these extravagant and pricey money pit projects. Live by a proper budget as we have to do.
