LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Schools should not have been closed Thursday

Our children have missed a day of school because of poor decision-making, says letter writer

To the editor,

Re: On snow days, singing superintendent knows best, Editorial, Jan. 16.

Why close the schools?

Again our children have missed a day of school because of poor decision-making of someone at Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools deciding we cannot challenge the children. It was my understanding that our children attended school to be challenged, is that not correct?

We live in Canada, it snows here, let’s save the no-school days for when needed, not to give the teachers and administrators a break. Another day lost for absolutely no reason and certainly high schools should have been open.

This is a repeat of last year. Perhaps the responsibility to close schools should be given to someone with common sense?
