Letter: Tourism finances ‘out of control’

Owner of Langley B&B says absence of tourism organization would allow innkeepers to offer guests lower rates

Editor: Re: Tourism Langley calls for vote on dissolution (the Times, Feb. 17)

Where did $6 million go? I totally agree with Coun. Quaale that the finances at Tourism Langley  are out of control.

However, Tourism Langley is really not accountable to anyone.

Here is one example: In the past year, the executive director received over $131,000 plus other benefits. That, in itself, is an outrage — $41,000 over budget.

Really, it’s a job that is worth less than $20,000 at best.

Hopefully, the innkeepers in Langley will push back and rid the community of this, and start giving lower prices to Langley visitors.
