No one can escape the wildfire smoke and everyone is obviously concerned.
In a month or so this will pass, then what?
Come October, the wood stoves around Parksville Qualicum Beach will be cranked up and the air quality on cool evenings will plummet to a state which will make breathing worse than it is today.
But this goes on unabated and uncontrolled, and for the most part unreported.
The Vancouver area banned bonfires and woodstoves years ago but we continue to tolerate dangerous levels of air quality for some six months through winter.
I have come to expect the usual inactivity from politicians and can only hope this current air quality crisis will alert more people to the benefits of clean air.
