Re: Sayson shares struggles upon retirement, Oct. 9

I was lucky enough to have Mr. Sayson as a junior prosecutor when I was a young police officer serving in New Westminster.

Winston was the most supportive, caring prosecutor I had the pleasure to work with. He took the time to listen to me and my thoughts on each case that I brought forward to Crown Counsel.

Throughout my career, Winston helped me become a better investigator with his words, advice, and encouragement. However, more importantly, Winston let the victims we both worked with know they mattered.

We all carry scars from the career we have chosen and Winston possibly more than others.

Congratulations on your retirement, and yes, Winston, you have made Canada a better place than when you arrived, one police officer and one victim at a time.

Sgt. Lori Jackson, (retired)
