“All Aboard Washington” is the name of the organization working diligently for extending and raising the level of passenger train service. On July 13 there was a meeting in Blaine, Wash., given by AAWA.
Learning about this event in the Peace Arch News some time ago, I marked it in my calendar.
As I anticipated, some issues on the agenda were touching Canadian interests.
While it was mentioned that B.C. premier John Horgan had consultations about a fast-rail service between Seattle and Vancouver, there seems to be a strong commitment on the American side to have at least a temporary terminus in Blaine.
I wonder how many people in White Rock, South Surrey and beyond have a dream of instead of driving all the way to Seattle, just boarding the fast train in Blaine. Go, Washington. Bring it on, Blaine. Someone must see a business sense in it.
A last word, a big thank you to AAWA for being such a great host, serving up delicious goodies.
