Editor: Re: Urban forest put at risk, April 16, letters
I agree with letter writer Roger Kealy that stupid, careless smokers are endangering our urban forests and I would like to add that they are also breaking the law, and are risking a fine of up to $2,000.
I, too, see new butts and packs on the paths I walk every day. Additionally, they are putting many houses that border the park at risk, because a fire in the forest could quickly and easily spread to the residential areas nearby.
Given the number of security cameras (and dash-cams) I see in residential neighbourhoods, the smokers will be identified and held responsible for tens of millions of dollars in damages.
