I live on Churchill Avenue, which is basically a glorified alley.
It has dumpsters at the west and a lot of the rest is the back end of homes that front on other streets. I find it amusing when people hype it as the Kitsilano of Penticton. It more closely resembles the East Hastings area with all it’s crime etc.
It is in a state of redevelopment and that should be positive for the area, but at Monday’s City of Penticton public hearings for a property to be rezoned to duplex from single family residential it was subdivided into two, 30-foot duplex lots.
It was approved even thought the duplex zoning clearly states that duplex lots are to be 40 feet not 30 feet. What good are the rules?
These sub-standard lots just perpetuate the mess that is Churchill Avenue (alley) for another 50 to 100 years .
To bad this redevelopment opportunity wasn’t used to get a little bit better quality for this street.
