Re: On the story on Wednesday, Nov. 30 in the Williams Lake Tribune about the two- to 16-month-old cougars at Ocean Falls.
I read that they were shot, which made me really sick. I see in a picture and the caption of a dead seal.
If they killed a seal, then they were hunting.
And I don’t believe they were habituated to humans.
I say to dart them and move them to another area away from town areas.
Has everyone forgotten what conservation means anymore?
It means to conserve. But there are too many trigger-happy officers who prefer to kill than to transfer.
I have seen bears in my areas get trapped then shot, including cubs with their sow.
I’m sick in my heart over this. I know someone who would be perfect for this job.
He believes in conservation.
Because if this keeps up, our great grandchildren will have to look in books on the animals we were privileged to see in the wilds. There are too many animals that are extinct now.
And some that were killed off before I was born, and I have to look in books to see these.
Why is it so much easier to kill than to preserve? This is my feelings, and don’t like it.
