Letters: Debacle at Volker Park

I’m aghast at the thought that someone would perpetrate such an attack on a family over their support for the off-leash area.

Re: Debate over off-leash park heating up (The News, May 28).

Seriously, Nancy Patrick? Comparing the noise that school children make to that of dogs in the off-leash park?

The kids are only out at intervals between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The dogs can frequent the park from dawn to dusk in varying numbers.

I’m aghast at the thought that someone would perpetrate such an attack on a family over their support for the off-leash area, but I sympathize with the neighbours who have to put up with the noise, dust, and apparently pollution from the dogs’ waste products.

I, too, have a dog that requires daily exercise. I choose to take him to other locations – Jerry Sulina Park, for one.

I don’t worry about him running away because he has been adequately trained – something far too few dog owners do.  The result is the Volker Park debacle.

Dog parks should be located well away from residences and dog owners should have better control over their animals at all times at any location.
