I want to extend my appreciation to a local business. One late afternoon earlier this year, while I was a customer at Debbie Mozelle’s Optical in White Rock, a previous customer returned to the shop shortly after having left.
The elderly customer’s car had refused to start and the customer was quite disconcerted by the situation. It was the end of the retail day and the business was about to close.
The customer was invited back in to the shop while someone contacted BCAA, provided all details on the phone, and gave the customer a warm place to wait until BCAA arrived.
She did not close the shop until she had confirmed that the customer had been helped.
I see this as a wonderful example of a caring gesture on the part of a community-focused business. The care of the customer was more important than the strict adherence to a closing time.
This is the kind of gesture that demonstrates true community “heart.” Many thanks to Debbie Mozelle for demonstrating that spirit.
