LETTERS: Natural gas isn’t so clean

There are misleading things in the recent ad from Steelhead LNG.

There are misleading things in the recent ad from Steelhead LNG. While LNG is non-flammable and non-explosive, if it leaked it would become a gas. Once it had expanded enough to combine with enough oxygen it would be extremely flammable and explosive.

Also it needs to be pointed out that natural gas isn’t as clean as advertised. This gas would come primarily from fracked gas which has been associated with many problems.

During the fracking process gas leaks into the atmosphere and sometimes into drinking water.

When the whole process is considered, natural gas isn’t so clean. I think this project should be considered a serious threat to lower Vancouver Island.
