LETTERS: Parks maintenance ‘unacceptable’

White Rock is very fortunate to have the unique attribute of hillside parks. They should be very attractive features in our city, but they are the exact opposite.

These walkways are used heavily by both residents and visitors for access to and from the beach and White Rock Town Centre.

The lack of maintenance in these park areas is intolerable.

Residents are frustrated, angry, disgusted and exasperated. In no other municipality would this lack of maintenance be acceptable in such highly visible and well-utilized locations. The weeds/grass are only cut every six weeks (if that).

The current level of maintenance is inconsistent with council’s stated strategic priorities. They must do something to improve this situation. Our tax dollars must be reassigned to create livable, pleasant, clean, and cared for spaces.

These unique, highly visible, highly valued, and what could be very attractive features, would add to the residents’ well-being and tourist marketability.
