It’s statements like Phillip Kinnie’s which give further evidence to the truth of the subject of Pride.
Shocking to see that, according to last week’s PAN poll, 2/5 of readers disagree with the Pride flag being flown at White Rock City Hall – further evidence that Pride’s goal has not yet been achieved.
Asking the question: “Do you support the flying of the Pride flag at White Rock City Hall?” is in itself reductive to the issue of LGBT rights.
And it provides a forum for people like Mr. Kinnie to give their bigoted commentaries.
The question is didactic and its polarizing nature leads me to conclude that only 3/5 of White Rock citizens support gay rights.
This makes me feel unsafe as a queer-identifying citizen, while simultaneously, I feel proud to see the LGBT flag flying at city hall in White Rock – especially in times when Pride’s goal is still, not yet achieved.
